Jodie Goldberg
An Educator Who Became a Clinical Social Worker
Jodie is a Licensed Master Social Worker at Steady Compass, based at our Nyack, New York office and offering telehealth throughout New York. She works with individuals across the lifespan, with extensive experience supporting children, adolescents, and families.
She believes that meaningful healing begins with connection, and she considers it a privilege to walk alongside clients as they navigate life's challenges. She is currently practicing under clinical supervision as she works toward independent licensure as a Clinical Social Worker.
Over 15 Years in Education
Before entering clinical practice, Jodie spent more than fifteen years in education, focused on health and wellness and on social-emotional learning. That background shapes how she understands the pressures carried by students, educators, and the families around them.
My aim is a space where clients feel seen, heard, and valued, and where curiosity and compassion come before judgment.
Children, Teens & Adults Navigating Anxiety, Grief & Life Transitions
Jodie works collaboratively with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, and life transitions. She carries a general caseload across all populations with a dedicated concentration in children, adolescents, and families.
Her years in education gave her a close understanding of the pressures experienced by high school students, graduate students, educators, and families. She recognizes the impact that academic expectations, career demands, life transitions, and burnout can have on emotional well-being, and she brings that perspective into her therapeutic work.
Support for Families of Loved Ones with Mental Illness
Jodie also works with family members carrying the weight of a loved one's mental illness, including the caregiver stress, communication strain, and relational patterns that build up over time.
How Jodie Works With You
Jodie's approach is culturally responsive, client-centered, and holistic, recognizing that each person's experiences, relationships, and overall well-being are deeply interconnected. She integrates evidence-based cognitive, behavioral, and emotion-focused therapies with a thoughtful focus on wellness and each individual's unique strengths.
She recognizes that identity, culture, and lived experience shape the way each person moves through the world. She is committed to an inclusive, affirming space where clients feel a sense of belonging and where systemic, cultural, and relational factors are acknowledged with curiosity, compassion, and respect.
Working together, Jodie supports clients in developing a deeper understanding of themselves, strengthening their relationships with others, and moving toward a life that feels more grounded, connected, and aligned with their values.
A Career Built Around Learning & Well-Being
Before completing her Master's in Social Work at the University of Houston, Jodie earned a Master of Education in Early Childhood Special Education from the University of Texas at Austin and spent over fifteen years working in education. Her focus there was health and wellness and social-emotional learning, work that put her alongside young people and their families during the years when those foundations are built.
That background informs how she listens today: with patience for what is difficult to name, and respect for the families holding it together.
Movement, Creativity & Lasting Connection
Outside the therapy room, Jodie finds balance and inspiration through movement, creativity, and meaningful relationships. She loves staying active, creating art, and spending time with family and friends, including friendships that began at summer camp in Maine and have lasted a lifetime. These experiences remind her of the importance of joy, self-care, community, and cultivating a life that feels rich with purpose and connection.
