About Eric
A Thoughtful, Relational Approach to Therapy
Eric is a therapist who works with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, substance use, and life transitions. His work is grounded in the belief that meaningful change begins with feeling understood. He offers a supportive, grounded, and collaborative space where clients can make sense of what they are experiencing and begin moving toward something different — at a pace that feels right for them.
Over time, Eric has come to understand that many of the challenges people face — whether rooted in stress, loss, identity shifts, or long-standing patterns — can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves and from others. His role is not to direct that process, but to walk alongside clients as they work to reconnect with their strengths, their clarity, and their capacity for change.
"Meaningful change begins with feeling understood. My role is to walk alongside you as we work to reconnect with your strengths, your clarity, and your capacity for change."
As an Asian American clinician, Eric approaches this work with cultural humility, curiosity, and respect for each person's unique story. He also brings his perspective as a husband and father, and as the son of aging parents — along with years of working closely with others. These experiences inform his understanding of resilience, growth, and the ongoing process of change.
Clinical Approach
How Eric Works With You
Eric takes a client-centered, talk-based approach, integrating elements of mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and — when it feels meaningful — creative modalities such as art and music.
He tailors the work to each person's preferences, needs, and goals, with the intention of helping clients develop tools and insight that extend beyond their time together. The pace and direction of the work are shaped collaboratively, in keeping with where each client is and where they want to go.
Background & Experience
A Life Shaped by Teaching & Art
Before entering clinical work, Eric spent over 25 years as a community college professor of fine arts, working closely with a highly diverse student population. That experience — along with his clinical work at Liberation Programs, where he worked with individuals and groups, and with older adults through Family Centers — continues to shape his approach.
He brings a steady grounding in working with people across different life stages, cultural identities, and lived experiences. The combination of years in the classroom and years in clinical settings has shaped a practice rooted in patience, attentive listening, and a genuine belief that growth is possible at every stage of life.
