About Genna

From Clinical Psychology to Direct Practice

Genna is a graduate student in the MSW program at NYU's Silver School of Social Work, completing her clinical internship with Steady Compass Counseling Services. She holds a B.A. in Clinical Psychology from Hunter College, which first drew her toward direct clinical practice.

Her clinical training includes work at the Queens Consultation Center, where she counseled young adults and adults through anger, anxiety, grief, trauma, and interpersonal conflict, along with experience as a behavior technician working with adolescents on the autism spectrum, her first exposure to supervised, one on one clinical work.

Genna is Russian speaking and brings an immigrant background to her work, along with the cultural insight that comes with it.

Clinical Approach

Space to Grow, Without Pressure to Change

Genna wants therapy to feel transformational, a space where people can grow into the best version of themselves and move past what has been holding them back. She also wants it to feel safe enough to simply sit with difficult thoughts and feelings, like anxiety, anger, or grief, without pressure for immediate change.

Real change happens through collaboration, when client and therapist are aligned on a shared goal.

From there, her role is to support the client's own journey toward that goal rather than direct it.
