Meet Laura
About me
I am committed to delivering caring, culturally responsive, and developmentally appropriate care to children and adolescents. I received my BA in Psychology from Arizona State University and am currently pursuing a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Northwestern University, with a focus on child and adolescent care. I am also certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and carefully integrate this, as well as psychodynamic modalities, while assisting clients.
Before grad school, I worked for five years as a case aide and behavioral specialist in the nonprofit sector. I assisted with their 24-hour emergency shelter and group homes, where we helped foster care children and unaccompanied minors. These experiences enriched my understanding of trauma and resilience while also strengthening my commitment to providing inclusive and compassionate care.

Why should someone choose to work with me?
As a clinical intern at Northwestern University, I provide accessible, high-quality counseling grounded in the latest evidence-based practices and a genuine commitment to trauma-informed, psychodynamic care. What distinguishes me is the personal journey I carry as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, an adoptee, and a woman of color navigating chronic illness, past trauma, and learning differences. I understand how isolating it can feel to navigate systems that overlook the full complexity of who we are. I aim to create a welcoming and supportive environment where clients can feel understood, supported, and empowered throughout their healing journey.
